ROMANCE OF LONDON
“THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN” | AT THE MAJESTIC TO-MORROW i Piccadily boule var fliers, whimsical sou-s in Soho, high London society and the folk of the music halls mingle in a merry romance of London life in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's “The Perfect Gentleman,” which brings Frank Morgan to the screen with Cicely Courtneidge, British stage and screen comedy si ar. The picture opens at the Majestic Theatre tomorrow. Morgan plays an impoverished exarmy officer, who goes to fantastic and often comical devices .to “put up a front.” He finds a theatre ticket, and attends a show where a former favourite, a music hall comedienne, enacted by Miss Courtneidge, is “given the bird.” The doughty major rises to her defence and upbraids the crowd for disrespect to the woman who popularised “Tipperary.” The upshot of the episode is that he is employed by her for her act, as the gonial “stooge” in •the audience. As a result of his performance in the latest Shirley Temple picture, “The Littlest Rebel.” John Boles has been given a long-term contract by Darryl F. Zanuck, vice-president in charge of production for Twentieth Century-Fox Films, Boies’ next role will be in “A Message to Garcia.” Hereafter lie will alternate between dramatic roles and singing parts.
