OBITUARY

MR. CHARLES EDWIN WAY The funeral of the late Charles Edwin Way took place on Sunday afternoon at (Marton, when a large cortege of mourners from all parts of the district followed the casket to its last resting place in the Mount View Cemetery. The Rev. Wm. Raine conducted an impressive service at his parent’s residence in Follett Street, and afterwards at the graveside. The high esteem in which the deceased was held was shown in the beautiful floral tributes that adorned the casket, which included wreaths from Auckland, Wellington. Wanga-Mi and New Plymouth and also floral tributes from the Marton Jockey Club, Rangitikci Hunt Club, Marton A. and P. Association, Court Little .John A.0.F., St. John Ambulance and Nursing (Division, Foxton United Sports Association, Foxtou Racing Chib, New Zealand Auto-cycle Union, Pukemiro •Collieries and wood and coal merchants of Wanganui, also friends from all parts of the North Island. The pall-bearers were Messrs, Clinton Way (Feilding), Norman Way (New Plymouth), Bert Way (Levin), George Trott (Palmerston North), cousiss of the deceased, and A. C. Wainwright (Wanganui) and, W. S. Cameron (Marton). The chief mourners were his father (Arthur Way), two brothers (Percy and Jack), Messrs. Alfred. Harry and Wi|]i;ini Way (New Plymouth), Ernest Way (Feilding), J. Henrichs and G. Nicholson (Wellington) and Thomas Jordan (Halcombe), uncles of deceased. The late Mr. Charles Way was born in Marton in .1899 and passed peacefully away in St. Catherine’s Hospital on Saturday morning after a short illness. For the past ten years he had been a resident of Wanganui, as a partner in the firm of Way and Wilson, coal merchants. Being of a kind and genial disposition, he was highly respected by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was unmarried.
