HAUPTMANN S FATE WASHINGTON, Jan. 16. A few moments after the United States Supreme Court declined to grant Hauptmann a. writ of habeas corpus Governor Hoffman granted him a reprieve, which will stay the execution for sixty days. The law permits of no more than ninety days’ reprieve. Governor Hoffman still hopes either that Hauptmann will make a confession or the discovery of new evidence.
