ON AWAPUNI TRACKS
THURSDAY’S GALLOPS SLOW TIMES RECORDED Awapuni trainers were favoured with a line and overcast morning for Thursday's training operations, and most of the h<>n*es engaged on Anniversary Day were given useful tasks. The course proper, with the flags 20 feet out from the rails, was available, and the going was slow but good. The work was very similar to that on Tuesday and the times generally were slow, suggesting that little effort was being made to break the watches. A* on Tuesday, Tout le Monde (J. McCauley) and Round Score (R. Reed) were associated in a seven-furlong flutter, and the result was the same, the pair, under no pressure, linishing together with Round Score pleasing more than his companion. Tne time was 1.33 2-5. Dawning Light alone put six furlongs behind in 1.23 2-5. Severe sprinted live in 1.7 A, her time comparing favourably with that of others sent over the same distance. La Crown put six furlongs behind in 1.22 1-5, but this wars improved upon by Vonia Park (1.20), ridden by S. Anderson and by Gold Cure (1.19 1-5). Gold Cure (\V. E. Pine) was one of the last to work before the breakfast interval. There was little between Cooroboree K. Reed; and Martial Lady (tChisholm) at the end of five furlongs put behind in U'H. After a slow first furlong they improved the pace, taking 51 4-5 for the last half-mile. Invoice (L. IE Jones) and Silver Jest (J. McCauley), who are in good trim, were galloped half a mile, being together all the way to complete in 51'3 5. Happv Hunting (S. Andereon) was sprinted half a mile, cutting the last three out in 39sec. Bazaine (R. Reed) was not huriied to complete half a mile in 52see. Ruenzori (A. McDonald) and Tiger Bill (Thomas > were galloped and tfrev finished on terms in 1.53. Kl< roll cover* i four furlongs in 54 Upc.
Among those who were schooled were Treasure Hunt (C. Broughton), who again flattened the initial o.) etaele and then improved; Tudor (Brown), who gave his usual polished exhibition; Kitv Quinn (A. McDonald), who pleased: Hanover (Parkes), who shaped like a useful and the full-brother to Manawatu, who “zoomed” over his fences. W E Pine will he at Trentham for the three days of the Wellington meeting, and his first-day engagements are f°r Sweet Agnes and Lord ATc-u--toa.
