THE MAJESTIC THEATRE Three famous authors have been I most lavish in their praise of ‘•Sequoia,’’ which comes to-day to the Majestic Theatre. Hugh. Walpole writes of this M-G-M picture the following: “It is a splendid picture, and it thrilled me tremendously.” Zane Grey, most noted of Western authors, says •*. . . not only the best out-door picture 1 have ever seen, but for me the best picture of the past decade!” —air opinion which is echoed by Jim Tully. “Sequoia” stars Jean Parker and is an amazing romance of life in the wild and uncivilised regions of the high Sierra mountains. Clark Gable also said that nothing could be more thrilling or romantic. Excellent supports include Laurel and Hardy in 35 minutes of fun with their latest comedy, “Oliver the Eighth.” a Fitzpatrick coloured travel talk, “Zion, Canyon of Colours,” and “Honeymoon Hotel,” a coloured revue. The weekly twilight sports meeting under the auspices of the Taihape Amateur Athletic Club was held on the Oval Domain on Thursday evening. Whiteman won the mile cycle handicap, while Taylor was first home in the two-mile cycle event. ID. Boyd was first to breast the tape in the 75 yards handicap, while J Nicholson scored a popular win in the 449 yards. A duel relay race was won by R. Spence and Miss Beuck.
