THE MOTOR UNIONS
| q’OO much cannot be said in praise of the work winch is beingdone by the Motor Unions of New Zealand to make easy road travel by motorists throughout the Dominion. Every main road is adequately signposted, and the direction to any place, even ol ■ minor importance, is a matter of ease. It would indeed be i difficult for a motorist to get off Ids track to-day. The unions have also shown commendable enterprise by the publication to their members of accurate road maps and hotel I guides. The hotel tariff's arc marked, and the toui-ist knows { precisely what his charges will be. He also knows that the A.A. House will be a satisfactory hostel to put up at. The whole work of these organisations is efficiently carried out, and asso- ' ciation agents arc available in each and every town. Jn the main these unions are directed by voluntary directors elected by the members themselves. There can be no doubt of the value of the services which are provided to the public, and the nonmember motorist must be regarded as one who has missed the j opportunity of sharing in some very real privileges. He docs not get everything that the member gets, despite the great assist- | ance the motor unions are to him when he moves about the country.
