E. Ascott, 4 down. AT LOS ANGELES OPEN TOURNAMENT A SENSATIONAL ROUND Received Jan. 12, 7.5 p.m. LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10. Ted Naismith played a brilliant round of golf on the opening day of the Los Angeles 5000-dc-llar open tournament to score 68, two under par. and tic for sixth place, Picard’s sensational 66 leading the field. Richardson scored 72, Cohen and (ceorge Nairmith 75, Bolger 79 and Kelly 81. With the greens sticky from t-he rains, Ted Naismith suffered a reversal of form to-day and toc-k 81 to go round. He failed to qualify with a total for two rounds of 149. Richardson was the only player to qualify among the Australians. Today he Teturned a score of 75, giving him a total of 147. Other aggregate scorers among the Australians were: Cohen and George Naismith 152 and Bolger 160. Kelly withdrew. Hines and Picard shared tire lead with 137.
