Farms for Jobless Succeed in Britain

LONDON —So successful have been the operations of the Land Settlement Association in placing jobless families from the north that five new farming estates have been bought. On each estate the association intends to install 40 men and their families. The men will come from the hardhit district of Durham, Tyneside and Cumberland. The new estates which these men will work include a 350-acre market garden farm, a 120-acro farm suitable for flowers and strawberries, a pig anil poultry unit of 345 acres, and a market garden of 275 acres. A distinguished visitor to a lunatic asylum had occasion to use the telephone, but experienced difficulty in getting his connection. i “Look here,” he shouted wildly to exchange, “do you know who I am!” “No,” came back the reply, “but 1 know where you are!”
