AUCKLAND RACING CLUB THE ELLERSLIE MEETING. PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY (Special to “Chronicle.”) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. The fields have thinned out materially for the second day’s racing on Monday of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting, and, as in the past, the weight-for-age event has drawn the smallest number of acceptors. This is the King’s Plate, and considerable interest will be manifested in the clash of the Auckland Cup winner Cuddle and the big sprint victor Jonathan with the Derby colts Entail and Heritage. Both the latter have done well since then- arrival and they promise to make it very difficult for the older horses, making it a pretty problem for speculators. A dozen stand their ground in the main handicap race, the Summer Cup, which bears an open appearance. Mungatoon and Argentic went well on Boxing Day, and a new prospect is Spiral, while Enge, Vanestep, aad the three-year-old Greek Shepherd are nicely placed. The Electric Handicaphas drawn a field up to the calibre of the Railway Handicap, and the other races also ara good enough to hold attention. , Form horses for Monday are the following: —• Fergusson Handicap.—Day Wind, Persian King, Kotou. The King’s Plate—Entail, Heritage. Ponsonby Hurdles —Prince of Orange, Erination, Delrain. Summer Cup.—Spiral, Munagtoon, Grek Shepherd. Criterion Handicap.—Maxown, Notium, Wagner.
