Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Gilberd, of Wanganui, arc visitors to Wellington. Mr. W. I. L. Loveridge, of Aramoho, was farewelled when he left Wanganui recently to take up his new duties with the railway staff at Napier. He was a prominent member of the Aramoho Swimming and Rowing Clubs. Mr. W. A. Sharland, of Lourenco Marques, East Africa, is an inmate of Braemar Hospital. Mr. Sharland is an old Christchurch boy. He left New Zealand 35 years ago, and is on a holiday visit to his native country. Air. R. D. Thomson, manager of the D.1.C., has been appointed merchandise manager for the D.I.C. in Wellington. Mr. Thomson will be succeeded hy Mr. J. R. Keenan, assistant manager of the D.I.C! in Christchurch. Ihe new appointments will take effect early in the New Year. Arrangements are not being completed for the visit of Colonel J. L. Sleeman, Chief Commissioner for the St. John Ambulance Brigade overseas and Knight of Justice of the Venerable Order of St. John, to New Zealand. Colonel Sleeman is coming from Africa to inspect the brigade and meet members of the association in New Zealand and from here he will go to Australia.
