BOXING DAY REGATTA

COAIMITTEE MEETING HELD. ARRANGEMENTS WELL LN HAND. A meeting of the combined Wanganui Rowing Association and Mg torboat Club . committee w r as held last night to make further arrangements lor tlie regatta which is to be held at Sandy Hook on Boxing Day. Further details in connection with this fixture were attended to by a large and enthusiastic meeting and matters are now well in hand. Air. T. H. James presided. Air. L. Sheppard was elected judge for the regatta in place of Mr. S. Harrison, who is unavailable. In connection with this regatta the Rowing Association and the Alotorboat Club have amalgamated on- a fifty-fifty basis, each club to stage its own particular events. Arrangements were made ±’ct a party from Bataua to be in attendance at Sandy Hook on Boxing Day for the purpose of supplying hakas and poi dances. The. Ratana-Alorehu Silver Band will also attend arid will provide a programme of music. It was decided to install a loudspeaker on the opposite side of the river to Sandy Hook. The announcer will take up a position which will enable him to view the course and he will thus be able to give a running commentary on the races. Atessrs. E. Armstrong, J. Fitch and G. Robinson were appointed a subcommittee to deal with the children’s events.
