MISHAP TO ’PLANE
WING SLIGHTLY DAMAGED. ( Per Press Association. I GISBORNE, Dec. 10. A minor mishap occurred at Napier This morning to one of the East Coast Airways de Haviiland ’planes. Just as the machine was coming to a standstill on completion of the usual run from Gisborne, one wheel folded under the ’plane causing silght damage to a wring and displacing the cowling of one. engine. It is believed that teh support stav of ihe wheel was bent by a sharp hump as the ’plan'* was leaving Gisborne. The pilot, Flying-Officer Kirkup. felt a heavy lurch, anq because of this exercised more than usual l care in landThe company’s ground engineer. Mr. A. Brazier, wps immediately flown to Napier in the company’s second machine, and it is believed that repairs will be effected without serious delay and that the machine will be ready to play its part in the holiday rush which the advance bookings already indicate wiii be experienced by the company.
