FIRST COMMERCIAL FLIGHT CLIPPER 'PLANE ARRIVES MANILA, Nov. 29. 'l’he China Clipper landed at Manila Bay on Friday to the cheers of a vast throng lining the waterfront and scores in small craft, who welcomed the first commercial flight from the American mainland. The trip from Ban Francisco was completed in approximately 60 hours’ flying time. The last hop of 1560 miles from Guam was completed in fast time, the aeroplane reaching .180 miles an hour, which was her speed before tail winds ‘ind resulted in her arrival approximately an hour ahead of prearranged schedule.
