Mr. E. W. Barham, of London, is a visitor to Wanganui. Apologies for absence were received at last night’s meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce from Messrs. E. M. Silk, K. Wright and J. Goldstone. Mr. E. ID. Andrews, the well-known New Zealand tennis player who has represented the Dominion in Davis Cup matches, is arriving in New Zealand on December 27. The death has occurred at Napier cf Mr. Walter Lambert Prime at the age of 80 years. Mr. W. Cecil Prime, the employers’ representative on the Arbitration Court, is a son. Messrs. R. G. Taiboys and J. Williams were appointed by the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce last night to discuss with the president and secretary of the Wanganui, branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, Messrs. W. H. Cannan and F. G. Seddon, the question of providing work for unemployed returned soldiers. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. George Caiman was passed at last night’s meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. The president, Mr. A. S. Burgess, said that the late Mr. Caiman was an old member of the chamber and had been president on several occasions. For many years he was an active member, but during the past few years his health had prevented him from attending meetings.
