PROSPEROUS HASTINGS
MUCH BUILDING ACTIVITY I Per Press Association. J HASTINGS, Dec. 2. Though only eight months g£ the municipal year have elapsed the Hastings Borough building returns show that the number of permits for dwellings already exceeds by ten the number of dwelling permits in any Complete year since the earthquake. The value exceeds the previous highest in any complete year by £14.218. The a\ erage expenditure per dwelling this year is £739, as against th-e previous highest cf £672. In addition, nearly £lOO,OOO has been .'pent on all types of buildings, which is £20.000 greater than the equivalent in the previous period. Steady activity is being maintained though the earthquake replacement virtually ceased two years ago.
