The value exceeds the previous highest in any complete year by £14.218. The a\ erage expenditure per dwelling this year is £739, as against th-e previous highest cf £672. In addition, nearly £lOO,OOO has been .'pent on all types of buildings, which is £20.000 greater than the equivalent in the previous period. Steady activity is being maintained though the earthquake replacement virtually ceased two years ago.
