SHOOTING
DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB HUGHES TROPHY SHOOT. SCORES ON SATURDAY. On Saturday the Wanganui Defence Rifle Club fired a competition for Mr. Hughes’ trophy. Weather conditions were perfect from a marksman’s point of view and good scoring resulted. Three riflemen tied for the trophy, J. Christian, L. Garner ond F. Gienny, the former proving the winner with the best score at <lOO yards. Of the younger members L, Garner, R. Gold stone and H. Garner were the best. H. Garner, a new member, is showing good promise. Next week’s con-petition will be for another trophy the ranges being 500 and 600 yards. Following are Saturday’s scores: —
