FR ENCH HOPES

MISSING AIRMEN | REPORT FROM SIAM CALCUTTA, Nov. 25. Fresh hopes that Sir Charles Kingsford Smith is alive were aroused by a wireless message received by the Govermnnet of India from the aerodrome at Victoria Foil to the effect that a villager at Kjpum, Siam, reports that information was received four days ago that an aircraft with a broken wing was in the jungle near Kaikpu, one of the airmen having had a leg broken and the other being unhurt. Kaikpu village is south of Kapung, which is 85 miles south of Victoria Point. The reliability of the information is uncertain, but it confirms the report that an aeroplane was seen by the manager of a dredge early on the morning of November 8 in the neighbourhood cf Takuapa. Government officials are endeavouring to confirm the report.
