HEALTH STAMPS

WANGANUI CANVASS GOOD SUPPORT FROM BUSINESS HOUSES. Satisfactory progress with the salo of health stamps in Wanganui as a result of the intensive canvass being made of the business area was reported at a meeting of the Health Stamp Committee on Monday night. It was reported that the members of the Wanganui Rotary Club, who are canvassing the business area, frequently found people waiting to sign the order forms. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union is organising functions in the various country centres and assistance is being given by the Optimists’ Club in tho direction of canvassing sport and athletic bodies. The committee has received an offer of assistance from the Victoria League but is urgently in need of an organisation to carry out a house to house canvass. The business area of the city has been divided into 10 blocks which are each being canvassed by two members of the Wanganui Rotary Club under the direction of Air. P. Iliggenbottom. A number of people are under the impression that the health stamps cannot be used for postage purposes. The stamps are sold at twopence each, one penny going to the funds of the health camps and other penny represents postage. The funds from the sale of the stamps in Wanganui will be devoted to children from this district.
