BOER WAR INCIDENT

AUCKLAND 'STORY DENIED ADELAIDE, Nov. 26. The story from Auckland that a former Boer spy, Scheepers. was not shot is contradicted by Mr. S. R. Pain, who during the Boer War was a private in the Royal Fusiliers, and who claims to have been an eye-wit-ness of the execution. Mr. Pain says that Scheepers was brought out at . dawn to be shot by members of the Royal Fusiliers, was placed in an oak armchair with his hands tied to the arms of the chair and with a soldier on each side. The commandant of the district and minister of the Dutch Reform Church were present. After the execution it was found that the left side of the brain had been blown away. Scheepers was given a respectable burial by the Dutch minister.
