N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS IN SEMI-PINALS Received Nov. 15, 10.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 15. A high wind made play very difficult in the New South Wales tennis championships. The results included:—■ Men’s Singles Semi-finals-—Quist defeated Craw- I ford 4—6, 6 —4, 6—4, 11—9. Hopman I defeated Tonkin, 4—6, 6—4, 6 —4. 10—8. Women’s Singles Semi-finals. —Miss Hartigan defeated Miss Nicholls. 6—3. 6—3; Miss Coyne 1 defeated Mrs Hopman. 4 —6. 6—4. 6 —4. Mixed Doubles | Second Round.—Lindo, and Mrs Betts I defeated Donohoe and Aliss Nicholls I 6 —3, 2 —l (retired). Men’s Doubles So ~ finals.—Crawford ami McGrath defeated Ferguson ami Chryslal 6 —3, S—6, 9 —7. Quist ami Thompson defeated Hopman and Kay 11—9, 7 —5, Miss Nicholls started well against Miss Hartigan. the Australian champion, and fed “—1 before Miss Hartigan got her famous forehand working smoothlv. Miss Hartigan won rive games in a row to win the set. Miss Nicholls was unable to gauge the pace of the Australian’s shots in the second set, outing returns. Miss Nicholls was nor playing confidently enough to test Miss Hartigan’s backhand. Th? Australian’s forehand drives repeatedly found the sideline* with Miss NtchoF.3 out o* position.
