GENERAL NEWS. A dance organised by the Maori Women's Institute was held in the Winiata Hall on Saturday in aid ol the iunds of the Morehu Social Club. 1 The music was supplied by Carring ton’s Orchestra, extras being played ‘ by Miss Chase. A spot waltz was wun by Miss Royal ■ atij Mr. It. Chase, while Mrs. i\ Buckley and Mr. \V. Waldin were the winners of a waltzing competition. A secund sput waltz was wun by Mrs. . Taylor and Mr. G. Carrington. Mr, A. Smith won a competition in which the pnze was a Mauri mat. I I'lie wrcaller George Hopkins caused a stir on Monday evening when lie tied a rope to the bumper of a car load of passengers and, gripping the rupe with his teeth, pulled the cai through the mam street, much to- the amazement of the many unluokefs who had assembled specially fur the purpose of watching Hopkins perform this remarkable feat. During the afternoun Hopkins played goif o-n the Raukura links. Mr. J. D. C. Da\is has been elected secretary uf the Carnival Committee that has been formed for the purpose *of raising funds for the new rest room’. The monthly meeting of the Taihape Borough Council will be held on Fri day, November 15.
