SPLENDID DISCIPLINE
CHILDREN ON DERAILED TRAIN. [ Per Press Association. ] INVERCARGILL, Sept. 27. Reference to the splendid behaviour of the 61 children who were involved in the Edendale train smash, was made at a meeting of the Southland Education Board to-day by Air. H. Smith, who said that the beys on the train had been coolness itself, and had rendered every possible assistance. He was very proud of the children. Air. AV. Bell supported Air. Smith’s remarks and referred particularly to the presence of mind of the girls. AVhcn all the children had been got out, and the train was on fire, one of the girls had gone back and thrown out nil their belongings. The chairman, Air. S. Rice, also commended the action of the children. They bad been taught discipline and a sense of duty, he said, and it was gratifying that they had displayed initiative and presence of mind in going about the work of itlicf in suc-i a splendid way. _____
