JEWISH MERCHANT’S ACTION. OFFENDER SENT TO GAOL. WARSAW, Sept. 25. A Jewish merchant named. Halberstadt was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment for “offending” Germany. He returned a letter from a German firm unopened, writing on the envelope, “I refuse to deal with Germany as Jong as Hitler rules.” The German authorities protested to Poland, resulting in Halberstadt’s arrest. ’
