R.S.A. The monthly meeting of the Taihapc and District Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Friday evening, the president. Mr. A. J. Hill, presiding over a satisfactory attendance. A circular was received from head quarters suggesting the striking of a special Anzac commemoration stamp to be sold in March for 2d; half of which I should be devoted towards the relief of distress amongst ex-servicemen, ami the balance of one penny for postage. In connection with the proposal, a com petition open to ex servicemen would be held to decide the design of the stamp, and a prize of £5 5s would be awarded to the successful competitor. The postmaster, Mr. .1. Caird, wrote advising that a meeting would lie held in the Town Hall supper rooms to-night (.Monday to organise a health stamp campaign to provide funds for the establishment of health camps for chil dren. Shorson and Newport suggested that a debate would prove more interesting, and after a. short discus sion the matter was held over till the next meeting. • ‘ The Girl in Red. ’ ’ Arrangements were finalised in con nection with the appearance of Aliss Nita Rosslyn at the Town Hull. Tai hape. on Thursday, (September 12, in conjunction with a community sing under the auspices of the R.S.A. It was decided to decorate the hall for the occasion and to invite the Taihape Band to play outside the hall on the night of the show. The secretary was instructed to inquire the time of Aliss Rosslyn’s arrival so that the R.S.A. members could welcome “The Girl in Red. ’ ’ It was suggested that it would be appropriate to the occasion if R.S.A. members met Miss Roslyn on bicycles decorated with red doll. Other details were discussed and the chairman requested as many members as possible to be in attendance at the Town Hall on Thursday afternoon to prepare the hall for the entertainment, which promises to be an outstanding success. It was reported that in addition to “The Girl in Red,” who will, of course, be the star attraction, some items would be given by local performers. The rommunity sing will be led by Al r C. A. McLaren. A loud speaker will be installed by Mr. Boyes so that the tentertaimnent can be “broadcast.’’
