MEETING OF WELLINGTON CENTRAL PROVINCIAL
A large and representative meeting of the Wellington Central Provincial of the W.D.F.U. was held in St. Stevens’ Hall, Alarton, recently, Airs. Harris presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed for Airs. Duncan Simpson in her recent bereavement. The following branches were represented: —Alarton, Feilding, Hunterville, Halcombe-Kakariki, Koekc, Pal morston North, Pukeroa, Moawhango, Rangiwahia, Tutaenui, Taoroa, Tiriankawa, (Jtiku, Pukeokahu, Ohingaiti, Kiwitea-Kimboltou. A welcome was extended to visitors from Otaki and Lovin, where it is proposed to form a new provincial. The president, Airs. Harris, received the congratulations of the meeting on being elected a member of the Dominion advisory board. The following resolutions were passed:— “That a girls’ educational training week be held in Palmerston North early next year, the date and programme to be decided at the next meeting. ’ ’ “That a drama festival be held in the autumn. ’ ’ “That all members use health stamps for the month of October to assist Air. Hooper with his heakh camp scheme. ’ ’ “That a wool display be stagcl at the Palmerston North A. and P. show in November, to be organised by a committee consisting of one representative from each branch.” Several remits were dealt with and an interesting discussion took place on the business of the Dominion conference held in Wellington recently. It was decided to hold the next provincial meeting towards the end of November. Many thanks were due to the Rangitikei branches for the hospitality extended by them to visitors. The meet-1 ing closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
