NEXT WEDNESDAY
BIG MATCH AT MARTON HAWKE’S BAY v. WANGANUI Hawke’s Bay is sending a strong team to play Wanganui at Marton next Wednesday. All the ’Bay stars have been included in the team to travel, which is playing a natch against Auckland to-day and will thus have the benefit of combination before meeting the blues. The side loft Napier yesterday by motor bus for Auckland, and will arrive in Marton next Monday. In addition to the match against Wanganui, the side will play Taranaki at New Plymouth next Saturday. The ’Bay players chosen to tour are: Racks, J. Vartan, C. Smith, W. John son, E. G. Apse/, L. Patchett, R. Webb, L. Bradley, U. Le Quesne, (captain), L. Colthior. Forwards, T. Iceland, Freds burg, L. Hannigan, E. Jackson, IL Mataira, I. Collett, P. Smith, M. A! ill er, J O’Brien, IL Rolls. The manager of the team will be Air. A. D. Lynch.
For the first time Dick Stcerc, who captained the ’Bay for so long, will be in the team opposing it. He will endeavour to lead Wanganui to victory against a fifteen of which be was at one time an honoured leader. It is hoped that C. Smith, the dashing Maori winger who toured with the native team in Australia, plays for the ’Bay. He is a pin er who was decidedly unlucky Io miss the 1935 British tour. The Wanganui Team The sole selector of the Wanganui Rugby Union (Mr. G. H. Pownall) has chosen thv following team to represent Wanganui against Hawke’s Bay next Wednesday; Full back: K.
