A bleak wind, mist and sleet were experienced for the first day of tho Ruapehu Ski Club's annual winter sport meeting at National Park today. The scratch downhill races held oyer a course on Scoria Flat as practice for to-morrow’s championships resulted:— Women’s Novice.—Miss M. Holt (Hastings) 1, Miss D. C. Ban (Hastings) 2, Miss Z. O. Lloyd (Te Awaniutu) 3. Women’s Open.—Miss E. N. Bond (Wanganui) I, Miss E. E. Wallace (Okahukura) 2, Miss 1. A. Farrelly (Auckland) 3. Men's Novice.—D. Lewis (Auckland) 1, C. B. Lewis (Raurimu) 2, L. E. Thomas (Wellington) 3. Men’s Open—W. M. Platts (Auckland) 1, D. McPherson (Palmerston North) 2, R. Kean (Wellington) 3.
