( Per Piesa Association ) | DUNEDIN, Aug. 2.7. f About 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, Thomas | Edward Portis, agefl 26 years, son of t 'l’homas Portis, of Airadale, a well- | known North Otago Jersey breeder, re | reived severe injuries from which he | later succumbed as a result of being ( dragged some distance by a horse, lie . was discing with a four-horse team iiikl ,■ had uncoupled the horses when his foot was caught in a chain, the horse taking , fright and dragging him 15 chains, lie did not regain consciousness and diefl I; soon after. ( At the inquest to-day medical evidence indicated that death was due to laceration of the brain ami the corn •. tier's verdict was accordingly that. h<’ ( died from injuries through being acci j dentally dragged by a horse.
