The Ministry of Health has lost no time in ci rm {arising local authorities assuring them of the readiness of the Minister to give any assistance in his power to those able to take immediate action to abate overcrowding. A. circular which has just been is ,-.ued draws attention to the changes ;he Act makes in slum clearance and other housing laws, and to the manner in which it ‘‘provides weapons for the elimination of overcrowding.” The first stage is a survey in each locality to determine where overcrowding ex i.'is. Subsidy will be available ior the provision of necessary additional ac < oininodat ion where the cost is Ji!.'ly to be such that rents would otherwise be too high for the class of tenants aff e c ted. ___________________
