PRIOR MEMORIAL PRIZE YOUNG WOMAN'S SUCCESS Received August 6, 10.2(1 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 6. The winning of the S. 11. Prior Memorial Prize for .1935, for >he best novel bv an Australian writer, is Mrs. L. C. Rodd, for her novel entitled “Tiburon,” which deals with an Australian country town in Lawson tradition. The winner, who is only 23, is the wife <J: a country school-teacher. Among ttve other stories which were highly commended was “The Papuan,” by°Monte H. Holcroft, a New Zealand journalist and author. A novel by him was highly commended in the 1928 Bulletin prize novel competition. Trustees of the Prior prize received and considered 215 manuscripts in this vear’s competition.
