INVESTITURE BY THE KING 'The Hon. Sir James Tarr attended at, BucKingham Palace un vhc morning «f July U to be invested by the King with thv Insignia of Knight Grand Cro.>s of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Alichael and Saint George. Only three others were similarly He coratvd—Sir. IL Birchenough, Bt. bir John Alaffey, and Sir Herbert Head. His Alajesty congratulated Sir James and said his honour was well merited. The decorations are the Badge, Star, Collar, Kibbu-n, and Mantle, ihe Star of a Knight Grand Cross consists ot seven rays of silver spreading like the Badge, and with narrow rays of gold between, while in the centre is the figure of St. Alichael with the motto <»f the Order, and the extremities oi the four arms of a cross protruding from beneath to half way across the rays. The Ribbon is of Saxon blue with a scarlet stripe. The Mantle is of Saxon blue satin lined with scarlet silk. Knights Grand Cross are ent it 1 ed to bear “supporters.” 'l’he number of members upon whom the distinct ion is •-.onferred is limited to 106. • 'l’he High Commissioner greatly ap preciates the many cable messages and letters of congratulation that havm reached him from New Zealand and from friemis in the Mother Country.
