ATTITUDE OF NEW ZEALAND REPLY TO DEPUTATION 111! HANSOM’S EMPHATIC OPINION [ Per Press Association. I WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. An emphatic opinion was expressed by the Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. 1.. A. Ransonij tu-day to a deputation from the New Zealand Council of the League uf Natic-ns Union that it would bo a very unwise action on the part uf the New Zealand Government to make public at the moment its views upon "the Abyssinian-ltaly question, 'rhe Minister explained, however, that as far as the Government and the peopl'd uf New Zealand were concerned they stood for peace. The deputation’s purpose was to call the Government’s attention to the Versailles Treaty and the Covenant of the League of Nations, to which New Zealand had put her signature and to which it should hold fast. The Dominion's attitude should be made public. Mr. Ransom replied that he did not consider it in the interests of peace to make a public statement on the deli cate position existing between Italy and Abyssinia.
