SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mr. and Airs. S. Gordon Anderson, Wellington, were week-end visitors to Wanganui. Mr. and Airs. G. \\. Seller were recent visitors from Mastertou tu Wanganui. Air. and Airs. Melville Bell, Have lock North, were iu Wanganui during tire week-end. Aliss Winnie Spurdie, who has been spending a lung holiday with friends in Wanganui, has left for Ohakune. Air. and Airs. Gerald Baillie, of W hakatane, with their son and daughter, were visitors tu Wanganui during the week-end. Airs. W. H. Wood, of Hastings, spent the week-end in Wanganui as the guest of Mrs. H. B. Willis, Bell Street. Air. and Airs. Maunsell and Aliss Maunsell, of Havelock North, were recent visitors to Wanganui. Air. and Airs. H. O. Taylor were Wanganui visitors to Wellington during me week-end. Air. and Airs. Milne Allen, Pahialua, visited Wanganui yesterday to attend the League of Nations meeting held last evening.

Airs. Noel Rix-Tro t, who has been visiting her mother, Airs. E, Griffiths, returned on Saturday to Marton.

According to word received by a friend in Wanganui, Airs. AV. Birch of Westmere, who is touring abroad, says that she had a wonderful time in Germany, Lucerne and Paris. Gerhiany is a wonderful country, says the writer, who travelled hundreds of miles through it by car, and saw a number of its.principal cities, including Berlin. The palaces were visited, as also the shops and cathedrals, and Airs, Birch no doubt will have a very interesting story to tell of her experiences. The writer adds that a cold, wet season was experienced in England this summer, though she preferred it to the heat. She is returning,to New Zealand by the Tamaroa, leaving England on November 1, expecting to be home in good time for Christmas.
