"SPORTING” TEAM
REPUTATION MAINTAINED PROSPECTS FOR SATURDAY Kecoivde Aug. 5, 10.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 5. The Maoris maintauivd ’their reputation as a spotting team as a icsull of their gallant elions in the second spell, and tney deserved a better late, throughout they continued to give the ball the air. 'their tackling improved but it was never lirst-class us there were too many round-the-neck tackles. Best forwards were Kawv, Cooper, K. Reedy and G. Harrison. The lastmentioned was again expert tn the loose and the most skilful in the line outs. C. Smith was the outstanding back, Hemi was splendid but the in side backs lacked the snap to give the heavy Hank men chances.
The Maoris should be a much fitter combination after a week's rest. It was too muck to expect a highly skilled display from a team wearied as a result of hard play and long train travelling over the week-end. New South Wales has selected the same fif teen for next Saturday’s match.
