NEW ZEALAND HORSES SUCCESSES IN AUSTRALIA The racing season of 1934-3 0, which ended on July 31, is rendered very notable by the large number of New Zealand-bred horses who competed in Australia, and with 158 victories to their credit there is reason for satisfaction. comments “Phaeton.”

The successes scored by Theo ("son .of Limond) in he A.J.C. Derby, Caulfield Guineas and V.R.C. Derby constituted a leading feature. Waikare, another son of Limond, captured The Metropolitan, one of the principal handicaps Sir Simper, by Grand Knight, won the Epsom, Gold Cup, and it is agreed that, with ordinary luck, he would have been successful also in the Caulfield Cup. In some previous seasons New Zealand bred horses have won a good percent age of stake-money, but the amount won during the recent term is far ii. advance of the most noteworthy of previous years.
