BUTTER FIRM, CHEESE STEADY LONDON, Aug. 3. Butter prices continue to harden as arrivals from Australia and New Zealand are small. With prospective sup plies also well below loose of a year age the tone of the market is very firm. Further improvement is not. likely. The quantity of unsalted butter available is insufficient to meet requifcnientß, consequently the price of acw Zealand passed IUUs for the first time for a considerable period.
The cheese market has also improved but prices are still unsatisfactory and du not seem likely to get better for plenty of English factory cheese is available at J2s to 38s per cwt with finest farmers’ at 52s to 60s.
The New Zealand Producers’ Asoperutive Marketing Association’s weekly cabled market report from London, dated August 2, is as fellows. —Butler market firm. New Zealand, 93s to 94s per cwt; first grade, 935; Danish, 108 s to 110 s. Cheese market steady. New Zealand, white 45s to 45s Gd, coloured 44s Gd to 455. A. H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their principals, W. Weddel and Co. Ltd., dated London, August 2:—Butter market steady. Danish 109 per cwt; New Zealand finest 945; “Kangaroo’’ (Australian) finest 925. Cheese market firm. New Zealand, white 45s 6d per cwt., coloured 455.
