After a very enjoyable day’s play, in glorious weather,, the Hawkcstone Club proved the winners by 16 games to 9. the games being halved. After the [match afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies of the local club and Mr. Ivan McNeil, captain of the visitors, thanked thu local team for their hospitality and also congratulated them on their win. Mr. J. A. Bush (president of the Hawkestone Club) replied and handeu the “mug” to the captain of the club to be held for the ensuing year. Castleclill 7 OBITUARY I’he death occurred on Saturday of Mr Nicholas Stant iull, youngest son of the late M r Charles Stantiall, ot Greatford, ami Mrs C. Htantiall, of Wanganui, al the age of 39 years, after a short illness. Deceased was a returned soldier and was gassed in active service. The funernl took place on Sunday afternoon at Mount View Cemetery, the Rev. W. Baine vomlucting the service nt the graveside. A large number of returned soldiers paid their respects to their late comrade. ’ The death occurred early on Monday morning at- the Wanganui Hospital of Mrs Jane (Nurse > Couch man. who was 72 years of ng'*. ’l’he deceased indy was well known in Marton and was a sister of Mrs A.
