FAREWELL TO AIR. C. R. WHITE The members of the Vv\j?gauui Harrier Club were entertained io alternoon lea in Alessis. White, Woo leaves for Australia on Friday us manager uf the New Zealand representative hari'iui team. The invitation was extended bv Mr. aud Mrs. W. L. Young, who were following an annual custom in entertaining the members of the club. Mr. A. C. Bourgeois, president uf the 1 club, thanked the harriers for turning out iu force and, on behalf of the buys., thanked Mr. aal Airs. Young for providing the spread. Mr. Young, who ih the club’s patron, said that it was with the greatest pleasure that he presented a handsome travelling rug to Mr. White. ‘‘The club i- pruud of him in his appointment and is grateful fur the work done by him in past years,” said the 'This wa> borne out, also, by the president, who said that the older members would realise the valuable work done in the past by Mr. White iu consolidating the club. This interest would manifest itself even mure on his return in the fcrni of valuable knowledge of harrier conditions gained during his v iait to Australia. 'The club would benefit accordingly. The harrier song was then given by those present. Air. White, in reply, said he was proud uf his long association with tire dub and lie felt honoured at beingable to go over the Tasman, both as a member of lhe Wanganui C lub and ns a manager of a New Zealand team. He paid tribute to the line team which he is to manage. “It is one that will display sportsmanship throughout the trip and is confident of a successful tour,” he said.
