SENSATIONAL RACE
MILE RACE AT GLASGOW JzOVELOCK HEADED OFF Received Aug. 1, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3. A sensational race was staged at Glasgow, where an attempt was made to beat the British mile record. Thomas, former mile champion, receiving 70 yards, dropped out after twothirds of the journey, but. Riddell, with 35 yards start, and Reeve, with 25 yards start, drew out from Wooderson and Lovelock, both off scratch. Reeve and Riddell were 20 yards ahead of the back-markers at the bell. Wooderson 300 yards from the finish challenged Lovelock. They struggled together for 60 yards when Wooderson again sprinted, beating Lovelock, but he was unable to overtake the leaders, Reeve winning. His time was 4min. lOAsec. Riddell was second. Wooderson took 4min. 12 7-10 sec. and Lovelock 4min. J 5 3-ssec. Wooderson created a Scottish record but Lovelock's British reentd ot Imin. 12sec. stands.
