PLATFORM AND RULES CONFERENCE DECISIONS ( Per T*resß Association. ) WELLINGTON, July 19. The Farmers’ Union Conference had before it this morning the report to overhaul the platform and rule'j of the union. The committee, whiuji was set. up at the 1933 conference, consisted of Messrs W. B. Matheson, D. Dickie, and R. 11. Feisst. Last year's conference had not time to deal with the matter and Dostponcd the discussion t'll this year. ( Clause six was altered ’u read: “That, in order to facilitate, a closer settlement of the land, largj estates should be acquired by the Crown at a fair value and that suitable rural lands shou’d be purchased ami homes erected thereon for workers who sha'Lbe entitled to purchase them on the time payment principle.’’ An addition was made to Clause 9, which now’ reads: ■ That tb« Crown grants subsidies, and the sums for expenditure by the Main Highways Board for roads and bridges .hail he allocated on a definite basis and when voted by Parliament shall he at once available and appli‘ca’t)le to the particular work for which they are passed, and on no account be diverted or allowed to lapse, and whenever possible such grants should be expended by local bodies.’’ CTaii c '’S 10, 11. and 12 were deleted. Clause 15 was amended to read: “That only ratepayers be empowcre I to vote at any election nr poll concerning anv konntry road, board, hospital board, harbour board, or electric power board.
