ON MARTON TRACKS

PREPARING FOR WEDNESDAY. SATURDAY’S GALLOPS. (Own. Correspondent). On the Marton tracks on Saturday a number of horses w’orked in view of the forthcoming Rangitikei Hunt Club meeting on Wednesday next. famho and Clarion Call went six furlongs in 1.27, finishing together. Donegal and Middle galloped half a mile in 55$sec, Ihapera and Genial did a half mile in Wyndale and Benedictine worked once round. Pukepapa, In the Air, Red Bray, Oratory, Ethiop, and Conference did pace work. Ngita jumped three hurdles well. Brigadore and Invictus jumped seven fences, Invictas outjumping his com panion in a good exhibition. Croyden (L. Jarvis), High Society (C. Thompson) and Old Remus (C. L. Bull) went over the big country, jump ing nine fences. Croyden gave a firstclass exhibition and finished in front. Old Remus fell at the brush at the back of the course, but was remounted and compiled the course. High Society jumped well. Indications point, to a most successful fixture for the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s steeplechase meeting, for the acceptances should almost constitute a record as there were only six withdrawals on acceptance night. The first race will start at 12 noon and an endeavour will be made to etart the races at intervals of 35 minutes.
