Jury Blame Motorist in Accident Case
While trying to retrieve his hat, which had been blown off, John Work man, 54; a commercial traveller, of Brixton Hill, Brixton, London, was killed by a car. At the inquest at Camberwell, the jury returned a verdict that his death was due to Frank Hall, a sales man, of Regcmey Street, Westminster, driving without due care and reasonable consideration. The coroner (Mr Douglas Cowburn) directed that the proceedings be brought to the notice of the Commissioner of Police. The coroner, summing up, said: “There are prudent and experienced motorists, but it is these young fel lows of immature age who get hold of a new ear and are thrilled with the excitement and exhilaration of it, who go all out. Tho only rule for safe driving is never to exceed a speed at which one can pull up within the limits of danger. ’'
