WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

CONCERT AND DANCE. A very enjoyable concert and dance was held last Friday to celebrate the third birthday of the Mangaweka Women's Institute, when a crowded hall testified to the popularity of these annual events. The programme included popular song and dance numbers by the ‘‘ Merrymakers” —a band of junior members ably trained by Airs. Dalrymple and a doll dance by Al is* Nora Mohoney and her dolls, these being the Misses E. Jacobs, 1). Sutherland, I’. Kirk by. B. Weymouth, B. Lawson and .1. Ince. Recitations by Miss B. We-ton varied the programme and Airs. Kirkbv, sang delightfully ■‘Trees’' and ‘‘By the Waters of Minetonka.” A short sketch •‘Two Kinds of (< reenho'ns ’ ’ and two one-act plays entitled ‘‘The Brid - , 1 ” and “Waiting for the Bus” produced bv Mrs. Kirkbv, caused much amusement and lagliter. 'l’lie. president, Mrs. Ginnane, welcomed everyone and real telegrams of good wislios froni Mrs. J, Brine, federation president, and from the Huntervillc W.l. Mrs. Dellow, oi I'tiku, and Mrs. Guthrie of Rangi wahia, presented lovely posies and good wishes from their respective institutes. Points prizes were presented to Mi.-.' Molly Gardner I, Mrs. Gardner ant! Mrs. Johnson (equal). The potatc prize went to Mrs. U. Reilly, who grew 911 b. of potatoes from three seed. A presentation on behalf of the mem bers was made to Mrs. Pairman, fornu’i president of Mangaweka. Posies wort presented to Mrs. Sutherland and Mi> Dalrymple with the thanks of the in slilute. for tlieir valuable services, Mrs Sutherland pianistc at all W.l meetings and concerts and Mrs. Dal rymple for her continual work and in terest. training the girls in singing ant dancing A beautiful birthday cake made by Mrs. Oulsnani and iced Im Miss M.
