OUTRIGHT WINS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP DERBY BEATEN AGAIN LONDON. July 16. All the matches in the country cricket crampionship series which was completed to-day were won outright and in most instances the winning side had plenty to spare. Derbyshire met with another defeat, at the hands of Nottinghamshire by three, wivkets, and Lancashire went down to Middlesex by a margin of 247 runs. Sussex won by nine wickets, Surrey by eight, Sonieret and Essex by seven, Hampshire by three, and Leicestershire by 150 runs.
Centuries were scored bv Gunn (Nottinghamshiie), and Pearce and Cutmore (Essex), in addition to which Hendren (Middlesex) carried his bat for 99. Smith (Leicestershirel registered a good bowling performance in taking seven for 49 and four for 52, and Goddard (Gloucestershire) took five for 76 and four for 45. J. Smith and Allen were mainly responsible for fzancashire’s vheap dismissal by Middlesex, the latter taking seven for 42 in the second innings. Results of matches are: Kent v. Surrey, at Blackaeath. — Kent 335 (Ashdown 90) and 191 (Gover seven for 64). Suirey 380 (Holmes 79) and 147 for two (Squires 76 not out). Surrey won by eight wickets. Sussex v. Worcestershire, at Hove. — Worcestershire 262 ami 223 (J. Cornford four for 17). Sussex 350 (Wensley 76 not out) and 136 for one. Sussex won by nine wickets. Glamorgan v. Somerset, at Pontypridd.—Glamorgan .119 (Cameron five tor 50) and 225 (White five for 73). Somerset 199 (Mercer six for 72) and 146 for three (F. Lee 90 not out). Somerset won by seven wickets. Leicestershire v. Warwickshire, at Hinckley.—Leicestershire 241 ami 262 (Armstrong 90). Warwiekshiie 148 (Smith seven for 49) and 205 (Smith four for 52). Leicestershire won by 150 runs. Nottinghamshire v. Derbyshire, at Nottingham.—Derbyshire 353 .'Worth ington 92) and 124 for six, declared (Voce four for 28). Nottinghamshire 187 (G. Pope four for 30) and 291 for seven (Gunn 113 not out). Nottinghamshire won bv three wickets. Northamptonshire v. Essex, at Northampton.— Northamptonshire 231 (Read six for 64) and 285 (Bakewell 80, Lamb 82). Essex 309 (Pearce 132) and 209 for three (Cutmore 100 not out). Essex won by seven wickets. Middlesex v. Lancashire, at Manchester. — Middlesex 215 (Robins 70) and 249 (Hendren 99 not out). Lancashire 135 (Smith five for 61) and 82 (Allen seven for 42). Middlesex won by 247 runs. Gloucestershire v. Hampshire, nt Bristol.—Gloucestershire 133 and 183 (Boyes four for 49). Hampshire 201 (Goddard five for 76) and 117 for seven (Goddard four for 45). Hampshire won by throe wickets.
