WANGANUI CHESS CLUB A successful and interesting season has been enjoyed by the members of the local Chess Club. Many titanic—though, of course, silent—battles were fought in the clubroom in St. Hill St., especially in connection with the several tournaments. Afr. L. Pleasants, the president wae successful in annexing the club championship and therefore holds the s ’.' er trophy for the ensuing year. Thi.* trophy is one of the best of its kind in the Dominion. Air. W. B. Smith, vice-president, secured the victory in the handicap tournament after a dour struggle with Mr. A. J. Ratliff.
