WELLINGTON MEETING WHYTE TO HOROWHENUA REVISION TAKES HURDLES. [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, July 9. The Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting opened at Trentham today in fine, bright weather, but the racing was held on a heavy track. There was a large attendance and the totalisator turnover of £28,971 was an in Tease of £6654 over the corresponding day last year. The judicial committee were busy during the day. In the Wellington Steeples Ruby Meteor took up Vaipeen’s line at the last fence and the committee decided that A. Gilmer, rider of Ruby Meteor, deliberately tried to run Valpen off, and suspended him for three months. An inquiry was held into the falls of Dollar Bill and Rona Bay in the Woburn Hack, and the committee found the occurrence accidental. An inquiry was opened and adjourned to Thursday into interference with Lapel and other horses near the false rail in the Whyte Handicap.
