Three appeals were heard, two relative lo passenger service licences and one with regard to a goods service. In all three cases the decision of the No. 5 District Transport Licensing Authority were upheld and the appeals dismissed. Webb's Alotors, Ltd., Raetihi, appealed against the decision of the No. ■i Authority granting permission tu the Wanganui River Services, Ltd., to make an extra trip from I’ipiriki to Wanganui during the tourist season. The Wanganui River Services, Ltd., appealed against the recent decision of the No. 5 Authority in granting Webb’s Alotors a renewal of their seasonal passenger service licence from the Chateau tu Wanganui, via Pipiriki and the River Road, and return via the Parapara Road. The point of the latter appeal was the right, of Webb’s Alotors to collect passengers at Pipiriki House. Air. L. Al. Ritchie, of Raetihi, appeared for Webb’s Alotors, while the Wanganui River Services were represented by Air. R. Al. S. J cues. After hearing lengthy evidence submitted by both parties, the board upheld the decision given by the No. 5 Authority. In the ease of the appeal made by Mrs. E. Bates, of Wavcrley, owner of a goods service, for the right tu operate over a portion of the Alain Highway and carry goods from the I’atca County to the Hawera County over seven miles uf the above highway, the board in upholding the decision of the No. 5 Authority, commented that it seemed that there may be aspects of the matter to be considered when relicensing took place. The board gave permission for the No. 5 Authority to hear and decide the matter again, even th rough the period of six months prescribed by the Act may not have elapsed from the. date of this decision
