DEMOCRAT PARTY

POSITION IN DUNEDIN. MR. DAVY EXPLAINS. ( Per Press Association ) DUNEDIN, July 8. Commenting on the position of the Democrat Party in Dunedin, Mr. Davy denies wholesale resignations of the executive, and says that Mr. Marlow, having become somewhat pessimistic and over-apprehensive of Labour’s strength as the result of his losing the Mayoralty, it was suggested to him that it might be well for his (Mr. Marlow’s) peace of mind if he seceded. There was no quarrel, just an agreement to differ. Regarding Mr. L’assmore, when it was learned that he had been appointed to the Broadcasting Board, Mr. Davy said he suggested that Mr. Passmore should be relieved of executive duties, and with this friendly understanding this was done.
