OPINION ON FLAX INDUSTRY. PALMERSTON N„ July V The Chief Government Flax Grader (Mr. Wm. Petrie), when paying a visit to Foxton this week, expressed the opinion that a very bright future was ahead of the flax industry and the sooner attention was given to the planting of selected varieties of flax, the letter. The swamps at present contained many different varieties, some good and some indifferent. Massey Col lege experiments had proved that a variety known as “ngara” cut and stripped in the ordinary way with ex cellent results, and it had been decided to plant a large area at Moutoa with this variety. There was no doubt about the superiority of the fibre.
