The junior game, Saudon versus Rongot ca, played at Rongotea on Saturday, insulted in a win for Sandon by 8 to 3. The game was played in a sea of mud, which made conditions very difficult. Rongotea opened and defended the southern goal. The early stages of the game were marked by hard rucking play. The first definite advantage came to the Sandon team lead by Murphy and K. Henson, who carried play to the black line where Mullins, Sandon’s speedy winger, secured the leather to score under the posts. Alullias converted. Blacks persevered and the forwards, led by Wright, carried play to the blue lino, where M. Wright, scored. Gloyn missed with the kick. Sandon 5; Rongotea 3. 'l’he second spell opened with the blacks attacking forcibly only to be driven back, Murphy and Kent being prominent for Sandon. Rongotea again forced play into the blue territory, where Mullins gathered the ball and cut through several opponents to score a great try well out. K. Henson failed to find the bars. Rongotea Thirds Defeat Sandon Playing at the Sandon grounds on Saturday, the Rongotea thirds defeated Sandon by 3 points to nil after a very ragged exhibition of football. TABLE TENNIS CLUB Interest in the Sandon Table Tennis Club is being well maintained, there being a good attendance again on Saturday evening. He was interested in all branches of sport and moreover sho.ved his interest in a con vrete form. The McKelvie Cup for miniature rifle shooting, the MeKelvit Shield for the Sandon Sports Club, the McKelvie Shield for the To Kawau Sub-union competitions, and man\ other trophies bear this out and they will perpetuate his memory. The late Mr McKelvie was patron of the Sandon Sports Club, the Plunket Society, and the Te Kawau Sub-union. His passing is regretted by all.
